Fishing takes place mainly in the gulf of South Evoikos, the Cavodoro Straits and on the northern coast on the Aegean side.
The types of fish vary according to the season.
In the winter they fish mostly with trawlers. The most common varieties of fish are: bogue, red mullet, cod, whitebait and other bottom fish.
During the summer fishing is done mainly with seines and longlines, and the most common varieties are: mackerel, sardine, anchovy, tuna, sea bream, etc.
The area is considered to be one of the best fisheries due to the quality of the waters (sea currents) and the rich diversity of the seabed. These are the two main factors that contribute to the good quality and flavour of the fish.
